Shopping tips: Making most of your trip to the flea market

Everyone wants to get a great deal. A cheaper option but great quality? A few dollars cheaper than what we see somewhere else? Cool. You want that, that, and that. Here are some useful tips on how you can make most of your time and money when you go to the flea market:

When in doubt, do not buy

If you have to ask yourself over and over again if you have to buy an item or not, most likely you are better off without that item. Move on an d you might be able to find a better deal somewhere else. Go only for those which you really love to have. Your hard earned money does not deserve second guesses.

Wear something comfortable

Your number one priority when you are going to a flea market—comfort. You need clothes and shoes that you are comfortable to move around with. No need for high heels. You will not be shopping on high end stores. You will be hunting for good buys and you can start this right by wearing your favorite sneakers or flats.

Haggle

If you see an item you want, do not be afraid to bargain. Retailers in flea markets expect their consumers to ask for discounts so they actually have a margin for haggling. Be polite and be reasonable. You never know, the seller might just nod with all your haggling.

Walk away when needed

You are on a budget and you have to stick to it. You have to prioritize what you want to buy. If you find an item that is way behind the budget, walk away. You might still find the same item in the other stands for a cheaper price.

Wash everything

Once you get home, wash the clothes that you bought from the flea market. Just to play it safe.

Sneaky vendors

Be wary of scams and sneaky vendors. Check the items thoroughly. For clothes, check for damages and check for stains, check the buttons and zippers, and other things which you usually don’t check.
